Underestimating Mature Size<\/strong> \u2013 If you don\u2019t know how large a tree, shrub, or groundcover will grow (especially in the climate you are planting it in), you may be in for a surprise. Planting a prolific shrub too close to a walkway or an entryway can result in a lot of maintenance to keep it pruned. Planting trees that get too tall near a home, electrical wires, or other things that can be affected, may result in a tree that needs to be pruned into an odd shape.   3. Too Much Turf<\/strong> \u2013 Don\u2019t let the desire for a large, lush lawn keep you from thinking about other options. Rocks mixed with dessert grass can save you a ton in watering costs.
